Flippa reviewThe largest open marketplace to value, buy and sell online businesses, sites and apps
Very good
Brent score, out of 5
Flippa is the default place to find out what a small online business is worth and to reach a large, global pool of buyers. The free valuation is a useful starting point and listings are cheap to start. Buyers must still do their own due diligence, and sellers should expect a success fee on top of the listing fee, which is paid whether or not the business sells.

Best for
- Owners of content sites, Shopify stores, apps or small SaaS who want a quick valuation
- Sellers of businesses under about $100K who want self-service listings
- Buyers looking for a first online business with a wide range of price points
- Sellers who want a broker but prefer a marketplace with a large built-in audience

- Assets Flippa restricts, such as cloned apps or accounts with fake followers
Maybe you have run a niche website or a small Shopify store for a few years and wonder what it would fetch. Or you want to buy a business that already earns money instead of starting from zero. Either way, the first problem is the same: you have no idea what a fair price looks like, or where the buyers and sellers actually are.
Flippa is the best-known answer to both. Its free valuation tool gives you a number in minutes based on comparable sales, and its marketplace puts listings in front of a global audience of buyers. For larger deals it also offers brokers.
This review explains how Flippa works for both sides, what it really costs to list and sell, and the checks you should make before you hand over money.
What is Flippa?
Flippa is an online marketplace for buying and selling digital businesses and assets: ecommerce stores (including Shopify, dropshipping and Amazon FBA), SaaS, content websites, mobile apps, social media accounts, domains and plugins. Sellers either create a self-service listing or hire a Flippa broker. Buyers browse for free, contact sellers, run due diligence and pay through escrow. A free valuation tool estimates a business's value by comparing it with similar sales on the platform.
Pros and cons
What we like
- Free, instant valuation with no login, based on comparable businesses sold on Flippa
- Large buyer pool: Flippa reports about 17,000 new buyers a month across 193 countries
- Covers many asset types: ecommerce, SaaS, content sites, apps, social accounts, domains and plugins
- Self-service listings start at $29 for 60 days, with brokers available for larger deals
- Escrow and FlippaPay from about 1%, plus listing and funds verification
What could be better
- Listing fees are paid whether or not the business sells, and a success fee (around 10%) is charged on completion
- Open marketplace means quality varies; buyers carry the burden of due diligence
- Package names and prices vary by asking-price band, which makes the fee table confusing
- Flippa Premium for buyers costs $49/month to see more deal data

Key features of Flippa
Free valuation tool
Enter your business model, category, age and numbers to get an instant estimate with no login. Flippa bases it on thousands of similar sales and on buyer demand for comparable assets, and is clear that it is an indicator, not a guaranteed price.
Self-service listings
Sellers of businesses up to about $100K can list from $29 for 60 days and manage buyer questions themselves. Higher packages buy more reach, such as featured placement, over six-month terms.
Flippa brokers
For established businesses, brokered packages handle buyer qualification, negotiation and closing. Flippa lists local brokers in the US, EU, UK, Australia and Singapore and says brokerage needs 12 months of consistent net profit (6 for YouTube).
Escrow and payment protection
Deals can close through FlippaPay or Escrow.com, which Flippa lists from about 1% and 1.2%. Funds are held until the assets are transferred.
Verification and integrity checks
Flippa offers listing verification and funds verification, and cites a marketplace integrity team and fraud-prevention tools. These reduce risk but do not replace your own checks.
Flippa Premium for buyers
Browsing is free. Premium, at $49/month or $490/year, is aimed at active buyers who want more access and data on listings.

Price your business before an exit
A blogger earning steady affiliate income runs the free valuation to see a realistic range, then decides whether to keep growing or list now. The number also helps when talking to private buyers.
Sell a small Shopify store
An owner lists a store with a $40K asking price on a self-service package, answers buyer questions and closes through escrow. The cost is the listing fee plus the success fee on the final price.
Buy a first online business
A buyer filters content sites with 2+ years of history, requests analytics and payout proof, and uses escrow to close. Starting with an existing income stream shortens the path to revenue.
How to get started with Flippa
- 1
Run the free valuation with your real traffic, revenue and profit figures
- 2
Gather proof: analytics access, payout statements and a profit-and-loss summary
- 3
Choose a self-service package for smaller assets or request a broker for a profitable business
- 4
Answer buyer questions quickly and accept offers only through Flippa's messaging
- 5
Close through FlippaPay or Escrow.com and transfer assets once funds are held
