Emergent reviewDescribe a web or mobile app in plain English and AI agents build, host and ship it
Very good
Brent score, out of 5
Emergent is one of the most capable AI app builders for non-developers: it builds full-stack web and mobile apps with a database, hosting and GitHub sync, and you own the code. The catch is credits. The Standard plan's 100 monthly credits go fast once you start debugging, and reviewers repeatedly report that failed fixes still cost credits. Start small and watch the meter.

Best for
- Founders who want a working MVP or SaaS prototype without hiring developers
- Small businesses building internal tools, CRMs, dashboards or booking apps
- Builders who need a mobile app as well as a web app from one prompt
- People who want to own and export the generated code
Skip it if
- Anyone who needs a fixed, predictable monthly cost
- Large, complex products with heavy custom backend logic and strict compliance needs
- Experienced developers who would get more control from an AI coding assistant in their own editor
You have an app idea and a clear picture of what it should do, but no developer, no budget for an agency and no time to learn React. Most no-code tools get you a nice landing page and then stall the moment you need logins, a database or a mobile version.
Emergent takes a different route. You describe the app in a chat, a team of AI agents writes the code, sets up the database and APIs, and puts it live on Emergent's hosting. It can build web apps and mobile apps, and it lets you take the code with you.
It is a serious option for MVPs and internal tools. This review covers what it builds, how the credit system really works, what each plan costs, and where buyers run into trouble.
What is Emergent?
Emergent is an AI development platform from Emergent Labs, founded by brothers Mukund and Madhav Jha. You describe an app in natural language, refine it through conversation, and launch it. Behind the chat, AI agents handle coding, design, database setup and deployment. Each plan includes monthly credits that are spent as the agents work; extra credits can be bought. Apps run on Emergent's built-in hosting, can sync to GitHub, and the code belongs to you.
Pros and cons
What we like
- Builds web and mobile apps, dashboards, stores and internal tools from plain-language prompts
- Built-in hosting with a database and APIs already wired up
- You own the generated code and can download it or host it elsewhere
- GitHub integration and task forking from the $17/month Standard plan
- Pro plan adds a 1M-token context window, custom AI agents and system prompt editing
- Lists SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certifications, and is backed by Y Combinator, Lightspeed, SoftBank and Khosla
What could be better
- Credits run out quickly: Standard includes 100 a month and review sites report debugging burns them fast
- Third-party reviews report that each live app costs credits every month to keep hosted
- Trustpilot reviewers complain about refunds being refused once credits are used
- Big price jump from Standard ($17/month) to Pro ($167/month), both quoted on annual billing

Key features of Emergent
Full-stack app building from a prompt
Emergent builds web apps, mobile apps, dashboards, ecommerce sites, SaaS tools and internal apps. Databases and APIs are set up for you, so a prototype can have real logins and stored data from day one.
Mobile as well as web
Mobile app building is part of the core platform rather than a separate product. That matters if your idea needs a phone app and not just a responsive site.
Built-in hosting and deployment
Apps launch on Emergent's hosting, which it describes as production-ready. Review sites report that keeping an app live uses credits each month, so factor hosting into your credit budget.
Code ownership and GitHub
Emergent's FAQ says you own the generated code and can download, modify or host it elsewhere. GitHub integration is included from the Standard plan, which makes handing the project to a developer later much easier.
Pro tools for power users
The Pro plan adds a 1M-token context window, an "ultra thinking" mode, system prompt editing, custom AI agents and high-performance computing. These help on larger codebases where the agent needs to keep more of the project in view.
Team and enterprise controls
Business adds role-based access, SSO, shared workspaces and real-time co-editing. Enterprise adds audit logs, per-user credit limits, self-hosted database support and deployment in your own cloud (VPC).

Validate a SaaS idea
A solo founder describes a simple subscription tool, gets a working version with sign-up and a database, and shares it with ten beta users. If it gets traction, the code goes to GitHub for a developer to harden.
Replace spreadsheets with an internal tool
A small services firm builds a job tracker or lightweight CRM for its team instead of juggling shared spreadsheets. The database and hosting are included, so there is no server to manage.
Ship a companion mobile app
A local business that already has a website prompts Emergent for a booking or loyalty app. Because mobile is built in, the same chat can produce the phone version.
How to get started with Emergent
- 1
Create a free account and use your 10 monthly credits on a small, well-defined app
- 2
Write a clear prompt: who the users are, the main screens, and what data you need to store
- 3
Refine in short, specific messages and test after each change to avoid wasting credits on rework
- 4
Upgrade to Standard when you need private hosting and GitHub sync, and connect your repository
- 5
Launch on Emergent hosting and track how many credits your live app uses each month

Emergent: frequently asked questions
Is Emergent free?+
Yes, there is a free plan with 10 credits a month and access to web and mobile app building. That is enough to try the workflow on a small app, but not to build and maintain a real product.
How much does Emergent cost?+
Standard is $17/month and Pro is $167/month, both billed annually in US dollars (list prices $20 and $200). Business and Enterprise are custom-priced. Extra credits can be bought on paid plans.
Do I own the code Emergent builds?+
Emergent's FAQ says yes: you can download, modify and host the generated code elsewhere. GitHub integration is included from the Standard plan.
Can Emergent build mobile apps?+
Yes. Web and mobile app building are both listed as core features, including on the free plan.
Why do Emergent credits run out so fast?+
Every agent action uses credits, including attempts to fix bugs. Reviewers on Trustpilot and review sites say debugging loops are the main reason credits disappear, and that live apps also use credits for hosting. Small, precise prompts help.
Who is behind Emergent?+
Emergent Labs was founded by Mukund Jha (co-founder of Dunzo) and his brother Madhav Jha. It raised a $23M Series A led by Lightspeed in 2025 and a later $70M round led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2 and Khosla Ventures, according to press reports.
Final verdict
Is Emergent worth it?
If you have an app idea and want to see it working this week, Emergent is one of the strongest AI builders to try, especially if you need mobile as well as web. Start on the free plan, build one small app end to end, and only upgrade once you know how fast your project uses credits.
